Fortyninth Month of Luna Sent

As she enters her fifth year on Planet Earth, our sweet Moon Girl enjoys playing with her newly acquired toys, along with her little brother (left and right).
Luna's birthday celebrations continue at the day care center, Heyendael, where she gives the children specially wrapped treats, thanks to the help of Oma Naatje (row above). The children first accompany themselves on musical instruments while singing birthday songs for Luna (top and bottom left). Our birthday girl gets to wear a beautiful birthday hat (top right) and gets to hand out the treats (bottom right). The day care women treat Luna (row below, left) to a "birthday cake" (row below, middle) and a wonderful diary of her time at the day care center (row below, right).
When Luna and Lior go shopping downtown Nijmegen, there is also some time for play (row above) and delicious hot chocolate (left and right). They are very lucky to have each other!
Luna gets to spend some time at kindergarten to get used to the new routine, which includes bringing supplies (left) and being walked over to the school by mama (right). It looks like Luna needs a little more practice putting on her hat (row below, left). Fortunately, mom is there to help (row below, middle). The teacher is delighted to have such a sweet girl in her class (row below, right).
When Aafke finds out that she does not have to work during a weekday, she comes over to spend time with Luna and Lior, and to take a few funny pictures (row below). Luna and Lior are very grateful to Aafke for making such an effort to be with them.
When the day care center has a Christmas celebration, Luna and Lior make Christmas cards (far left). That is, they are more interested in the process than the product! Meanwhile, all the parents brought goodies (middle left).
It is sooo hard not to eat the Christmas goodies until the Christmas carols are finished. Luna grabs her friend Isis by the hand (middle right) and enjoys some of the yummy treats while the others sing (far right)!
Our Christmas cards are a little delayed, so here is a sneak preview for you, with apologies for the hard copy arriving late!
The holidays give the Sent clan the opportunity to spend quality time with their friends and family. Oma Alie joins them for a Christmas breakfast (row below, middle). And they visit Angeline, Michiel, and their children in Amsterdam (row below, left), as well as Elda, Paul, and their children in Oldenzaal (row below, right). Angeline was Esther-Mirjam's editor-in-chief for a magazine with logical puzzles. And Elda was Esther-Mirjam's fellow student in high school. The Sent clan is very generously invited to their dinner tables.
The holidays also mean spending quality time on the couch, reading with Tante Daan (row below, left), drinking with Oma Alie (row below, middle), and watching television with Lennart and Anne in Oldenzaal (row below, right).
Angeline's son, Arthur, has a very sweet bird, named Falco. The latter joins the visitors after they have finished their meal. Luna gets to feed him a rice cake, and takes her job very seriously (right). As you can see, it is already way past our little lady's bedtime, and she still has a long trip back to Nijmegen ahead of her. As you may not expect, she spends the entire trip chatting with her mom. When she finally crawls into bed, at 11 PM, she falls asleep immediately and does not wake up until 9.30 AM the next morning, much to her mom's delight. It will take lots of getting used to when she has to start kindergarten at 8.45 AM as of January 5!
Luna loves to dress up as a princess, and Lior figures he might as well follow his big sister's example (left). He walks up to mom with a princess skirt in his hands and asks her to put it on. Fully dressed, Luna and Lior watch a princess show on television. Let's hope Lior will not be upset with his mom when he grows up!
A few minutes before midnight on New Year's Eve, Esther-Mirjam wakes up Luna. The two wait for the clock on television to indicate the start of the New Year (row below, left). After this, they put their coats on, while Luna still cannot keep her eyes off the television (row below, middle). And then they head outside to admire the fireworks (row below, right). Luna is a little scared at first, but enjoys it eventually.
When Victoria turns twelve years old, she invites her classmates as well as little Luna, who enjoys the birthday cake (row below, left). The group heads over to admire Opa Tano and Oma Naatje's donkeys, with Luna (in the orange coat) looking so small among the twelve-year-olds (row below, middle). And then she gets treated to her favorite food, french fries (row below, right). It is very kind of Victoria to invite her young friend to her party.
It is high time again for a visit to Chimpie Champ, an indoor playground (row below, middle). This time, Luna is joined by Iris and Wessel (row below, left), both of whom were born to mothers that belonged to Esther-Mirjam's birthing class. With so much hard work, Luna yet again gets to enjoy her favorite food (row below, right).
If you have been missing pictures of Opa Ben on this site, it is because Luna's grandfather had a back operation and is spending time recovering at the hospital. Fortunately, the hospital is next-door to Luna's home, so she visits him regularly. While in the hospital, she enjoys watching television with Opa Ben (row below, left), eating goodies (row below, middle), and playing with Oma Alie (row below, right).
Luna loooves to make drawings (row below). More and more, it is possible to distinguish figures and things in her drawings.
Luna also loooves to cheer up those around her, making silly faces while wearing glasses (row below).
With the start of the new calenda year, Luna starts going to school on a daily basis. This means climbing into the bicycle trailer with her little brother early in the morning (row above, middle) and then walking across the school playground (row above, left), through the doors (left, top), and up the stairs (left, bottom). After having put her coat on the coat rack (row above, right) and putting her snack on the shelve (right, top), she takes her place in the circle (right, bottom). Luna loooves going to school. To mom it seems as if her daughter became a year older in a week's time. Suddenly, she seems to understand so much more.
Luna is also big enough to start proper swimming lessons (row above, middle), along with eleven other children (row above, left). They sing songs in a circle (row above, right) and listen to the teacher's instructions while standing in the water (right, top) or sitting on the edge (right, bottom). In a playful manner (left, top), Luna is learning quickly (left, bottom). She does not mind going underwater (row below, left) and sometimes gets a little distrated (row below, middle). After all this hard work, it is time for a nice shower (row below, right).
To complete her new schedule, Luna now also has dance/improvisation classes (row above, middle). Mom loves the look of her little girl in her cute ballet outfit (row above, left and right). The children participate in fun stories (left), and Luna again has the occasional "philosophical moment" (right).

Hip, Hip, Hurray!
Fortynine months old!

Our fortynine-month-old loooves her little brother (row below). She is very sweet to him, and now only rarely shows signs of being jealous of him. About once a week she gets to sleep in her mom's bed. When Lior joins them because he wakes up crying in the middle of the night, she comforts him and cheers him up by playing games with him, until mom tells the two that it is high time to go back to sleep!
