Fortyseventh Month of Luna Sent

Upon entering her fortyseventh month on Planet Earth, our Moon Lady visits the Youth Health Bureau. She weighs in at 16.5 kilo (roughly 36.38 US pounds) and measures 103 centimeters (roughly 40.55 inches). This is exactly average, so our young lady has done a wonderful job catching up after her rough start. She passes the eye test with flying colors. She also needs to build a bridge with blocks and draw a circle, which she does very well. When asked whether she has a girlfriend, she responds: "Yes, Victoria!" When asked what her favorite food is, she replies: "French fries!" And when asked what her favorite vegetable is, she answers: "Sausage!" The poor girl is still trying to make up for the meat on which she missed out during the pregnancy because her mom was still a vegetarian then.
When Luna, pays a visit to the petting zoo, she goes for a ride with her little brother (row below, left). All this fun is making her brother very thirsty, and Luna is more than happy to share her drink with him (row below, middle). And it is making Luna very hungry for chips (row below, right).
Luna goes swimming every Thursday morning. When Oma Alie comes along, Opa Ben stays on the side of the pool to take some pictures (row below, left), including one of Luna and her grandmother hanging out underneath the water umbrella (row below, right). Our young lady is starting to learn how to swim: froggy, airplane, pencil (row below, middle).
When Aafke comes over for a visit on a sunny fall Saturday, she comes along to the Brakkefort playground, where she goes for a scooter ride with Lior and Luna (row below, left). Our young lady is now big enough to operate the scooter all by herself (row below, right). And Aafke teaches her how to jump on the trampoline (row below, middle).
When Aafke and mama go to a concert, Oma Alie and Luna bake a cake (row below, left). The baking is fun, but it sure is a long wait for the cake (row below, right). And after all this fun, it is time to relax on Opa Ben's lap (row below, middle).
Luna goes to gym for toddlers every Friday afternoon and Lior comes along (top left), for he very much enjoys following his big sister's example (top right). The two crawl through a tunnel (middle left and middle right) and walk on the balance beam (bottom left and bottom right). The gym class always closes with the "dikke duim" song (row below, middle). When the (grand)parents put away the aparatus, the children wait patiently while enjoying something to drink (row below, left and right).
When Opa Tano and Oma Naatje borrow mom's car, Luna and Lior take the train to Spijk to celebrate Oma Naatje's birthday and pick up their car. Luna is intrigued by the whole experience (middle right) and Lior sits quietly in the backpack throughout the trip (far right). Here you can see his reflection in the train door.
When Luna and Lior misbehave during Oma Naatje's birthday, they are put in the dog house (left). To be honest, they climbed into it by themselves. To be fair, they were vey well behaved during the birthday celebration!
With her two cute braids (far right), Luna does a very convincing Pippi Longstocking impersonation (middle right).
Luna loves to "cut and paste." Instead of "knutselen," she calls it "klutselen." Give her a bunch of images (row above, left), and she carefully cuts them (row above, middle), puts some glue on them (row above, right), puts them on a piece of paper (left), and is very pleased with the result (right).
When mama has a conference in Rome, Luna and Lior spend time with Opa Ben and Oma Alie in Doesburg. They enjoy the company of Opa Ben (row above) as well as that of each other (left and right).
Luna has fun drawing, cutting, and gluing. Indeed, she can spend hours doing arts and crafts. Meanwhile, mama really misses the company of her sweet girl!
When Luna visits Ome Frank, an optician, she gets to try a pair of glasses in his beautiful store (middle right). And when she is in Doesburg, she gets to wear a scarf to make her look like an adorable little red riding hood (far right).

Hip, Hip, Hurray!
Fortyseven months old!

Luna spends her fortyseventh month day much like any Thursday, to be honest. She wakes up around 8.30 AM and then crawls into mama's bed to watch children's television, while mama tries to catch a few more minutes of sleep. After breakfast, which consists of a glass of warm milk and a sandwich with jelly, she goes swimming. After lunch, Lior takes a short nap, while mama and Luna play some games and do some puzzles. After Lior wakes up, Luna goes grocery shopping at the Albert Heijn, where she asks for a snack for not only herself, but also her little brother. When mama makes dinner, Luna gets to watch a DVD. And after dinner it is time to go to bed. After having gone through the bedtime routime with mama (book, "hiya ho" song, and "ting ting" song), she gets to read a little by herself. This routine will soon change when Luna starts going to school!
