Fortythird Month of Luna Sent

Upon entering her fortythird month on Planet Earth, our Moon Toddler gets to celebrate Father's Day. Luna and her brother visit Opa Tano (row below, left), Opa Ben (row below, middle), and Papa (row below, right). They are very lucky to have these men in their lives!
Luna is very fortunate to get to hang out on Opa Tano and Oma Naatje's farm, where she plays with the dog, the cat, the chicken, and the donkeys, Ian and Maurice, who are very gentle with her (row below).
Now that Lior is getting bigger and more mobile, Luna loves to play with her brother, either having her car pushed by him (left) or pushing his car (right). It was their initiative to play with the car, making mom realize how lucky they are to have each other.
As a good Dutch girl, Luna walks on wooden shoes (row below, middle). However, they are meant for walking around the garden and not for going on long walks, causing Luna to take a break every now and then (row below, left and right).
Luna and Esther-Mirjam share lots of laughs, hugs, and kisses (row below).
During the Summer Festival at Luna's day care center, Heyendael, our young lady entertains herself by going on the merry-go-round, and around, and around (far left). She is much less scared and jumps with lots of other kids on the inflatable sports center (middle left).
Luna does not seem to be all that excited about having her face painted during the Summer Festival, in contrast with the sun that shines on her cheek (middle right). In the bicycle trailer on the way back home, Luna is not too thrilled that Lior no longer has his baby seat, for he now has easier access to her balloons (far right).
Luna, Lior, and Esther-Mirjam travel to Toronto, Canada because mom has a conference at York University and because she also has relatives in the area. At the airport, Luna and Lior still have to get used to sitting next to each other in the new dubble stroller (far left). By the time of the conference, they hold hands and exchange kisses (middle left).
During the looong flight to Toronto, Luna and Lior entertain each other by walking through the isles (below left), pushing the flight attendant call button (bottom middle), and balancing toys on each other's heads (below right). Esther-Mirjam is happy when they finally land in Toronto, but disappointed to find out that the stroller is not waiting for them at the gate, but in the luggage area. While carrying her big boy and holding hands with her big girl, Luna tells her that she has to go pee-pee, even though she had just gone in the plane. Esther-Mirjam tells Luna they will look for a washroom after having gone through the passport control. When Luna learns that there are no washrooms in the luggage area, she goes pee-pee in her pants and subsequently undresses herself in front of everybody. Meanwhile, Lior is crawling up and down luggage carts because the delivery of the baggage, including the stroller, is delayed. Pushing the stroller and pulling the suitcase, Esther-Mirjam makes her way to the car rental desk, where she is delayed further because there is no economy car available and the child seats require a special delivery. When she finally drives off in a luxurious car with her children in safely strapped into the car seats, the two back benchers fall asleep immediately. A warm welcome awaits the Sent clan in the house of David and Amanda in Kitchener.
Dave and Amanda have three children, Samuel (5), Carmen (4), and Elliott (1). Together with Luna and Lior, they just fit into the bathtub (left). Afterwards, David reads a bedtime story for the entire gang (right), which Lior does not seem to enjoy all that much. It must be the jet lag, eh?
David and Amanda's house is a children's play paradise, much to the delight of Lior (row below). The playroom is about the size of Esther-Mirjam's living room. It contains lots of toys, bord games, and dress up clothes, a television, a video recorder, a DVD player, and a comfy couch for the kids.
Luna loves dressing up in the princess clothes, including Cinderella's slippers (left). Each day she gets to be a different princess. And she loves to dance with princess Carmen (right) to the music of the K3 CD that she brought along as a present. "Kusjesdag" is the favorite of our two little princesses.
When Marg and Gary come over to hang out with the Sent clan (row below, left), they are put to work quickly. After all, a children's play paradise is even better with a little adult help! Gary pulls Luna and Lior in the wagon (row below, middle), while Marg pushes Lior on the swing (row below, right). Our young man has to stop laughing every now and then so he can take a breath. The swing is his favorite, hands down (as long as these hands are pushing)!
During a trip to Victoria Park in Kitchener, Lior enjoys the company of Elliott in the double stroller (middle right). Meanwhile, Luna has fun with Samuel in the splash fountain (far right).
When Samuel has finished his last day in Senior Kindergarten, the kids get to go out for ice cream (far left). Though wearing Snow White's dress, Luna must think that she is Sleeping Beauty, for she falls asleep on Samuel's shoulder wearing the dress (middle left).
David is the youngest of the Meijer children (middle right), while Nico is the oldest (far right). Tante Marijke is the sister of Esther-Mirjam's late grandmother Oma Truus. She is married to Ome Jan and their back yard is adjacent to that of David and Amanda, who now live in their old house.
When Luna and Lior tire of the children's play paradise at David and Amanda's, they can go over to "Oma and Opa's" very easily. Lior is grateful for the food he enjoys there (below left) and makes funny faces while sitting on Tante Marijke's lap (below middle). Ome Jan makes sure that Lior does not take a tumble down the stairs off their deck (below right).
And when Luna and Lior tire of "Oma and Opa's," they head over to David and Amanda's back yard, which is a little children's play ground. Lior climbs onto the teetet-totter all by himself (middle right) and also gets into the car without any help (far right).
All the play makes Luna and Lior very hungry. They get to enjoy a big bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken drumsticks with the whole family (far left). That is, Esther-Mirjam tries to feed Lior baby food at first, put Lior pushes her aside once he sets eyes on the chicken!
After dinner, Rob (middle right) and Maribeth (far right) return from their cottage to visit with the Sent gang. They are about to become grandparents themselves, because their eldest daughter, Naomi, is pregnant.
On Canada Day, the Meijers and Sents head out to the beach. Lior loooves playing in the sand (far left), while Luna dreams away (middle left). Meanwhile, Esther-Mirjam is kept busy making sure her kids are protected by means of suntan lotion and their food is clear of sand.
The sand is so hot that the only way to get to the water comfortably is by making a quick run for it (middle right). Meanwhile, David is kept busy making all the kids are safe in the water (far right).
During their regrettably last day in Canada, Luna and Lior have a tea party with Carmen (row below, middle). During their visit, they have discovered the joy of eating water melon (below left and right), while Esther-Mirjam has discovered the joy of taking pictures of her children eating water melon.
Esther-Mirjam thinks she is fully prepared for the flight back with a backpak stuffed with toys and food. Her children are very well behaved at the airport (top left). Once in the plane, they find that they are very sleepy but unable to fall asleep until the very tail end of the flight (bottom left). That is, Lior does fall asleep rather quickly, but then is woken up because his sister has to go poo-poo (far right). After this, he feels rather restless. Luna wants to crawl onto Esther-Mirjam's lap to fall asleep, but there is no room for her there. She finally falls asleep on the floor (middle right). However, this is only about an hour before landing. So Esther-Mirjam has to wake her up to get her strapped into her seat for landing. When they leave the plane, they find that yet again the stroller is not waiting for them at the gate, but in the luggage area. The Sent clan ends up jumping the long line in front of the passport control and is delighted to see Opa Tano waiting for them. Poor Luna throws up during the drive home. Too much excitement!
Luna celebrates her return to the Netherlands by putting on her Welpie cap (far left) and her wooden shoes (middle left). Of course, this whole dress-up thing is inspired by her trip to Canada. Indeed, princess Carmen very sweetly gave this princess dress to her new friend, princess Luna.
Luna also tries to dress up Lior (middle right), but the latter is much more interested in climbing onto the "chair for bad behavior" (far right). That is, Lior does not yet know that this is part of the use of the chair, but he will probably find out soon. Meanwhile, he has to be watched very closely for he crawls onto everything that crosses his path!
Luna and Lior head over to Doesburg to celebrate Opa Ben's birthday on July 4 (right). Perhaps the latter is not too happy about this, for they keep him awake at night because they are still suffering from jet lag.
During the first night of their return home, Luna and Lior watch Bambi. During the second night, they enjoy Belle & The Beast. During the third night, mom decides the nighttime fun needs to come to an end!
Luna is very good about sharing her treats with Lior (left). She is not crazy about candy anyway, unless it contains some chocolate. Lior, on the other hand, is not picky at all about what he eats.
When the Tour de France starts, Luna digs up her Rabobank cap and sunglasses to cheer for the Rabobank cycling team (right). With such an adorable fan, the cyclists are bound to perform very well!
Inspired by the contents of the playroom in Canada, Esther-Mirjam buys a board game for Luna (row below). That is, mom loves playing board games herself and is using Luna as an excuse to get back into the practice again. Fortunately, Luna is a very willing victim, especially when the game's central character is her favorite Disney Princess, the Little Mermaid!
Inspired by the independence of the children in Canada, Luna now wants to take off her shoes by herself (row below). "Mama, I do not want to wear my shoes and socks. I want to wear my foots." While mom gets a good laugh, Luna gets a good stretch in the process. She also tries to argue with mom about which clothes she gets to wear, but Esther-Mirjam is managing to keep control of that for now.
Swinging alone is as little fun as bowling alone (row below, left and right). Fortunately, Opa Ben finds Luna's sad face impossible to resist (row below, middle). Indeed, she has Opa Ben wrapped around her finger. He very kindly caters to her every need.
When Aafke picks up Luna and Lior from the daycare center, the two fall asleep on the way home (row below, left). Once home, Lior is the first to wake up (row below, middle). And once Luna is awake as well, he wants to get out of the trailer and makes his wishes known loud and clear (row below, right). Our young lady also does not look too happy about having woken up.
When Aafke and papa go swimming with Luna and Lior, mom has her hands free to take come pictures of the water fun (row above, left, and right). Along the way, Luna is making great progress with her efforts to learn how to swim by herself. She is very much at ease in the water, which is good in a country with as much water as the Netherlands!
Luna loves spending time at Opa Tano and Oma Naatje's in Spijk, where she gets to pump water (row above, left), have a philosophical moment (row above, middle), and help with Oma Naatje's vegetable garden (row above, right). She is learning to eat with a fork and knife (left), but still manages to bite on her tongue (right).
Opa Tano and Oma Naatje put up a few tents and a tunnel for their granddaughter to play in their huge yard (row above). When Oma Naatje looks for Luna on one side (left), Luna is getting out on the other (right). Sneaky girl!

Hip, Hip, Hurray!
Forthythree Months Old!

Time flies when you travel to Canada, hang out with your grandparents, and have fun with your mom and brother. Indeed, Luna is turning more and more into a girl with whom one can have a serious conversation, such as the one below.
• Mama: "Luna, you are such a big girl now. Before you know it, you will be a woman. And then you may also have children and become a mama. And then I will become an oma. What do you want to become?"
• Luna: "Mama, when will you become a girl? And I want to become an opa."
This is surely inspired by the fact that Luna has such wonderful grandfathers!
