Thirtieth Month of Luna Sent

As she enters her thirtieth month on Planet Earth. our Moon Child receives a wonderful present from Sanne, sidewalk chalk (middle right). Opa Ben shows Luna how it works (far right).
Luna spends hours in the back yard drawing on everything she can find there (far left), including Opa Ben's hair (middle left). In the opinion of Luna, the latter is the most interesting, of course.
Luna visits Doesburg to admire Oma Alie and Opa Ben's new digs. Willie and Bert, Oma Alie's cousin and her husband, are also there to help (middle right). When they all take a lunch break, Luna lucks out, for she gets to eat her favorite food: french fries (far right). Yum!
On a sunny Thursday in May, Esther-Mirjam walks about fifteen minutes to the petting zoo in the Goffertpark in Nijmegen. Luna gets to pet rabbits (top row, left) and goats (top row, right) and to watch geese from a safe distance (top row, middle). There is also a small playground at the petting zoo, including a swing (top left) and a bouncing rabbit (top right). When mom is busy feeding Lior, other women kindly help Luna get on and off! A trip to the petting zoo is not complete without some ice cream, of course (bottom, left and right). Luna calls it I C U, while mom calls it a big mess!
Luna gets to sit in her mom's bicycle trailer again, now accompanied by her little brother. Unfortunately, her trip is cut short by a flat tire (far left). She keeps a watchful eye over Lior while mom tries to figure out what is wrong (middle left).
Esther-Mirjam is now the proud mom of a "mini" baby and a "maxi" toddler (right). She has lost count of the number of diapers she has changed and is planning to give Luna's potty training some serious attention when the weather turns nice(r).
When Tante Daphne breaks her leg, Esther-Mirjam, Luna, and Lior pay her a visit. While mom chats with the patient and Lior takes a nap, Luna and Sebastiaan play on the computer (far left). Luna is very intrigued by it (middle left).
They all sit down for a delicious (Monday!) brunch (middle right). Luna loves eating eggs, though it appears that not much of the egg manages to make its way into Luna's mouth (far right), eh?!
Luna is caught trying to comb her hair with her fork (left). Now why on earth would she do this? She should know by now that forks are used for eating!
The answer to the question is that Luna has been watching The Little Mermaid, in which Ariel is told by Scuttle that forks are used for combing one's hair (right). Mom decides that it is high time to move on to another Disney movie!
One Sunday morning, Luna wakes up to find a rabbit in her back yard. The cage had been there for a week or so, but had been empty up until then. Luna is so excited about the new addition to her family (left) and will undoubtedly be as kind to the rabbit as she is to Lior. She is now the proud foster mom to Pleun, whose mom, Aafke, could not take Pleun with her when she moved to her new house. Of course, Aafke is welcome to come and visit as often as she likes to pet her rabbit. Meanwhile, Luna will take good care of Pleun.

Little Luna's Logic I

A black-and-white dog is a cow (left) and the Pope is Sinterklaas (Saint Nicholas) (right). She keeps her mom quite entertained with her chatter!

Now that Oma Alie and Opa Ben have moved into their lovely home, Luna can come over to spend a night with her grandparents. She waves goodbye to her mom (top row, left) and gives her a goodbye kiss (top row, right), while saying "I love you." This is the first time in a long time that the two spend the night away from each other, and Luna does not seem to mind! Oma and Opa treat their granddaughter to some chips before she goes to bed (top row, middle) and Luna watches Nijntje (top left) while sitting on Opa Ben's lap (bottom left). Before going to bed, Luna's teeth are brushed (top right) and her hair is combed (bottom right). She also gets to read a book before going to sleep (bottom row, middle). The next morning, she is greeted by an egg (bottom row, left) and gets to have an ice cream (bottom row, right). No wonder Luna enjoys staying with Oma Alie and Opa Ben so much!

Little Luna's Logic II

A black-and-white bird is not a magpie, but a penguin (left) and a banana is the moon (right). How can one not enjoy such a cute chatterbox?

When the Sent Family visits the Dolfinarium (Marine World) in Harderwijk, Luna guards her brother from the front of the stroller (far left), while her brother sleeps through most of the visit (middle left). Luna enjoys the shows, while trying to take advantage of her mom's hands being tied when Lior is feeding.
When Lior is outside (and inside), his big sister Luna keeps a watchful eye over her little brother (right). And mom keeps a watchful eye over Luna to make sure she understands that Lior is a little baby.
Hip, Hip, Hurray! Luna does her first pee-pee on the potty (below left). She looks
quite proud of herself while producing it (below middle). What she does not quite understand is that the pee-pee should not be poured out of the potty onto the stones (below right). Yet, the first important potty-training steps have been taken.

Little Luna's Logic III

When mama asked Luna: "What does a parrot say?" ("Wat zegt een papegaai?"), her daughter replied: "Are you still alive?" ("Leef je nog?"). She is undoubtedly inspired by the Dutch song: "Parrot, are you still alive?" ("Papegaaitje leef je nog?").

Hip, Hip, Hurray!
Two-and-a-half years old!

Time flies when you are having fun. It is hard to believe that Luna is two-and-a-half already. Though one is reminded of it when she has her "terrible twos' moments". Fortunately, mom is learning to manage them. Time also flies when Luna visits Oma Alie while Opa Ben is in the hospital, recovering from an operation. She gets to eat lots of goodies (row above, left and right) and needs a bath afterwards (row above, middle). She appears to have outgrown the bath! Luna also gets to look quite smart wearing Oma Alie's reading glasses (left and right). If time continues to fly, then before you know it, Luna will be able to read.
