Twentieth Month of Luna Sent

When our Moon Child enters her twentieth month on Planet Earth, mama and papa honeymoon in Paris (top row), where they watch the Bastille Day fireworks near the Eiffel Tower, visit the Père Lachaise cemitary, go to the ballet at the Paris Opera, visit Musée d'Orsay, go to the Rodin Museum, attend a concert at Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre, and stroll through the Clignancourt flea market. They also eat delicious crêpes with bananas and chocolate (left), visit the grave of Victor Noir (middle), and find the grave of the economist Saint-Simon (right). Though Paris is fun, Hans and Esther-Mirjam very much miss little Luna, who stays with her grandparents (left and right). Luna has fun trying on some reading glasses (left, top and middle) and has a good time chatting with Opa Ben (left, bottom). Of course, the inner child must be nurtured as well (right). Luna enjoys a delicious apple (right, top) and some ice cream (right, middle). Overall, Luna enjoys spending time with her grandparents (right, bottom).

When Luna visits Lake Bussloo, our poor Moon Child gets stung by a wasp in her nose (left). Papa quickly sucks the venomous fluid out of Luna's nose, leaving her a little happier (right).

When Luna spends her last day at the Day Care Center Heyendael in Nijmegen, songs are sung, accompanied by musical instruments (row above, left). Luna is a little shy about so much attention (row above, middle). She treats the children to bread sticks and raisins, and the staff to delicious chocolate (row above, right). When Luna sees papa trying to sip from her cup (top left), she quickly finishes her drink by herself (bottom left). She runs for the bear (top right) so papa can play with it (bottom right). When Luna tries to get Bram to dance with her (row below, left), the latter is not interested (row below, right). In response, Luna lies on the pillow in despair (row below, middle).
On 31 July 2006, the second house in which Luna has lived during her young life is sold (left). Papa helps her walk up to her new home in Apeldoorn (right). Luna looks forward to enjoying many happy moments with him and her new family.
When the weather in the Netherlands turns rainy, the Brink-Sent family comes up with ways to continue to be able to enjoy its evening meal outside. Luna is sheltered by the sun umbrella, while Hans stays dry under a rain umbrella. And Esther-Mirjam takes this picture while standing in the shed. They hope for a turn in the weather during their vacation on Ameland.
Luna takes the boat to Ameland (below middle), a small Dutch island, accompanied by papa, mama, Sanne, Lotte, and Ruben, in anticipation of some fun in the sun (below left) and in the sand (below right).
Unfortunately, only one of the days during Luna's stay on Ameland is warm enough for a dip in the ocean (far left), a fact about which Luna complains while talking on the phone (middle left).
The fact that the weather is not great for swimming gives Luna extra time to enjoy the views on Ameland (middle right) and to go for long walks with papa (far right).
Luna also gets to admire the gorgeous Ameland light house (left) and hang out in front of it with Ruben (right). The lighthouse was built in 1880 in order to replace the existing bell-towers from the villages Nes and Hollum. The 58 meter high lighthouse is Ameland’s most eye-catching construction, a beacon whose presence is felt wherever you are on the island. Not only are its rays of light visible from far afield at night, but the red and white striped giant can be spotted from all corners of the island in daytime as well. Visitors can climb to the top crossing 235 steps and 15 floors.
Luna enjoys reading about Ameland (far left) and getting a sense of where she is on the map of the area (middle left).
During the evenings, Sanne, Lotte, papa, Ruben, and Luna (middle right) hang out in the apartment and go bowling (far right). Luna quickly adapts to the vacation schedule and oftentimes sleeps in until 11 AM!
The weather is excellent for long strolls on the beach. Luna is a real trooper during these walks (top left), though has a hard time walking as fast as the others (bottom left). Ruben is kind enough to wait for Luna (top right), while Esther-Mirjam lets Luna push her own stroller (bottom right). Luna proves herself to be in excellent shape, managing to walk very long distances.

Hip, Hip, Hurray! Twenty months old!

Luna continues to make very rapid progress. She learns new words every day and loves to dance while listening to music. She still enjoys hanging out in her play pen and playing with her toys very patiently. Sleeping appears to be one of her favorite pastimes, though she also tries to lure her mom into keeping her awake longer by begging for exra songs and sharing lots of laughs just before bedtime.
