Second Month of Luna Sent

As our Moon Baby enters her second month on Planet Earth, she becomes very alert and expressive, much to the delight of her family fan club, chaired by her joyous mom.

Luna's hungry face.

Luna's relaxed face.

Luna's "hello world" face (and hand).

Luna's smiling face.

Luna's curious face.

Luna's cheeky face.

Luna is a little confused as to which school she should support! Go Cardinal? Go Irish? Go Radboud? Luna is keeping her options open for now.
Luna shows the international Lunapower sign. She now weighs roughly 50% more than she did at birth, as witnessed by her healthy cheeks.
At the tender age of five weeks, Luna already has the men wrapped around her tiny finger! Ome Arno is pictured left and Ome Bob right.
Luna proves herself to be quite a ladies' baby as well. Tante Daniëlle (left) is delighted to meet her little niece. In Tante Astrid's arms (middle), Luna finishes her bottle in no time. And how can Tante Daphne (right) resist the smile Luna shows her? Luna and Tante Daphne know each other from the many OB/GYN visits and from the delivery, during which Tante Daphne offered Luna's mom expert support.
Luna loves to be close to Esther-Mirjam. And vice versa! Mom carries her treasure around in a sling (left) and cuddles with her on the couch (right).
Luna has added a sedentary element to her life. She goes for a car ride in her zebra chair (left) and rocks in her vibrating bouncing chair (right). Of course, this sedentary phase is only temporary! Luna's mom would not want her daughter to become part of a global health problem.
There appears to be a distinct theme to the decorations in the room of our Moon Baby, thanks to Oma Alie, Opa Ben, Oma Naatje, Opa Tano, Michelle, Nan, and Mary. The latter is responsible for the very special needlepainting pictured below right. In addition, Luna's mom finds it hard to resist the many moon decorations she now suddenly notices everywhere!
Because of Luna's early birth and stay in the hospital as well as her move to a new home, not everybody has been in the fortunate circumstance to meet the little lady yet. Luckily, she continues to welcome new visitors. Luna and Tante Irma (left) seem to have a good conversation. And Luna shows Ome Dennis and Tante Sophie (right) the international Lunapower sign.
Here is a sampling of items that have started to strike Esther-Mirjam and Luna as breastfeeding torture instruments. Because of Luna's premature arrival and her relaxed temperament, she has been unable and unwilling to breastfeed. Perhaps in response, Esther-Mirjam's milk production has been insufficient for Luna's needs. The two of them have tried a whole array of breastfeeding tools, but to no avail. In the end, it started to feel like baby torture to Esther-Mirjam, and she has decided to continue pumping, but stop exposing little Luna to any further experiments.
Dressed in a dashing skirt, Luna practices to become a cheerleader for the Nijmegen EiffelTowers.

"Hey, look how cute I am!"

"Yawn, this is boring!"

Esther-Mirjam could not find "second month day" balloons, so uses ones for a second birthday instead.

Hip, Hip, Hurray! Two months old!

Luna's play pen is decorated yet again, now because our moon girl is two months old. On this day, Luna crosses the 4,000 grams (8.8 US pounds) mark, weighing almost twice what she did at birth. She invites her grandparents and Tante Daphne to thank them for their wonderful help during her stay in the hospital and the subsequent move to her new home. (Others like Tante Daniëlle and Ome Geert, Ome Arno, and Tante Astrid have also helped, but Luna cannot invite all of the many relatives who have been so kind to her and her mom.)

Luna treats her visitors to presents by way of thanks.

The visitors get to enjoy a delicious cake.

Luna wears a darling dress for the occasion. How can the Nijmegen EiffelTowers resist her now? As the picture suggests, Luna sleeps through most of the celebration.

Luna has a special present for her mom.
