Birth of Luna Sent

Birth Images
It was a new moon on Sunday, December 12, the day labor started. It was the day of Santa Lucia, the saint of the light, on Monday, December 13, the day Luna arrived. And it was Mo(o)nday as well, so the stars were lined up for the arrival of our moon girl! At 9:30 PM on Sunday evening Esther-Mirjam's membranes ruptured, at 10:30 PM her cousin, Daphne, and she arrived at the hospital, at 11:30 PM the contractions started, and at 01:01 AM little Luna made her lovely appearance, five weeks earlier than expected.
The bed is ready for Luna and the tea is ready for mom, but Esther-Mirjam has no time to drink tea once the contractions start and leave little time to recover in between.
Two exhausted ladies after a delivery of only ninety minutes! The umbilical cord was wrapped around Luna's head, so it is a good thing everything happened so quickly.

Luna receives an Apgar score of 9 one minute after the delivery and a perfect score of 10 after five minutes. What a good girl!

Life is rough.

Luna weighs in at 2100 grams, which is roughly 4.6 US pounds. She measures 45 centimeters, which is about 17.72 inches.
Luna's first sip of milk. Her nose looks so flat, while her eyes and lips look so swollen.

Finally, after all the hard work, it is time for Luna to have a good, long sleep!

Congratulations on behalf of the hospital.
